After a transport accident, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) can pay for help at home with tasks you can't manage because of your injuries, including household cleaning. This is how its Support at home policy works.

Who can get it

How to request it

  1. Ask the TAC to pay for the support. It may contact your doctor or arrange an assessment.
  2. Once approved, give your provider your TAC claim number and the approval, and the TAC pays them directly.
  3. If you pay yourself, you can claim the receipt back through myTAC.

Limits

How Silv's fits in: Silv's is an approved WorkSafe (WorkCover) provider for household services. NDIS, DVA, TAC and aged-care clients are served through provider arrangements, subject to your approved supports and agreement with your provider. Not sure where you stand? Call or WhatsApp 0489 220 588 and we'll talk it through.

Frequently asked questions

Does the TAC pay for cleaning I didn't do before the accident?

Generally no. The TAC pays for help with tasks you normally did before your accident (with an exception if you were pregnant at the time).

Can my partner be paid to do the cleaning?

No. The TAC won't pay family members or friends for home services, except registered childcare.

How long can I get help for?

Usually up to 5 years after the accident. People with severe or permanent injuries can continue with TAC approval.
